Make a day of it

If you’re visiting one of our lawyers or independent solicitors in Bolton, why not make a day of it? Bolton is a beautiful former mill town and has been a production Centre for textiles since Flemish weavers settled in the area in the 14th century, producing a cotton and wool weaving tradition.

Bolton is rich in history, boasting a Grade II listed neoclassical town hall designed by William Hill and opened by Albert Edward, Prince of Wales. There is also the Great Smithills Hall, which was built in the 14th century, and its chapel dates back to the 16th century. You may be interested in visiting Hall I’ th’ Wood, which is now a museum and was originally a late medieval yeoman farmer’s house. Moreover, Bolton has 26 conservation areas which contain 700 listed buildings, many of which are situated in the town Centre, making the town a truly beautiful place to wander.

Bolton also hosts several theatres including the Octagon and other independent groups like the Bolton Little Theatre. If you have a love for trains, Bolton Steam Museum houses various steam engines in part of the old Atlas Mill also.
