Direct appointments

Access to the very best advice – on your terms.

April King Direct

At April King Legal we advise a very diverse range of clients, and we understand that no two clients are the same. From overworked mums and dads to busy business people, we appreciate that taking time out to visit a law office may not be an option.

Whilst we offer office appointments or the alternative of home visits at no extra charge, we can only serve those within our geographical area. Additionally, we understand that not everyone feels comfortable inviting a stranger into their home. For this reason, we also offer the option of ‘direct appointments’ where one of our lawyers will provide comprehensive legal advice and guidance over the telephone or via Skype.

How does a direct appointment work?

Our direct appointments work in a similar way to our regular appointments:

We’ll book an appointment date and time that is convenient to you.
Legal advice
At the agreed time, your Lawyer will call you to discuss your situation, or initiate a Skype discussion if you prefer.
Legal information
Your lawyer will suggest any necessary legal work and provide a quote. There’s no obligation.
write legal documents
If you decide to proceed, your lawyer will draft any necessary legal documents for you.
Posted legal documents
Your documents will arrive in the post. If you’re not happy with anything, just get in touch and we’ll amend them for you.
Once you’re happy, we’ll deal with any final formalities and your documents will be stored securely for you if you’ve requested this service

Who would benefit from a direct appointment?

Direct appointments are ideal for those who are outside of our geographical region – i.e. do not have an April King office close by and we cannot offer a home appointment. Direct appointments are also perfect for those who would find it difficult or inconvenient to attend the office but do not want a lawyer to attend them at home.

What types of work are suitable for a direct appointment?

We offer direct appointments for Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Deputyship Orders. For Probate appointments, direct appointments are not available but in most cases, one of our associates will be able to visit you at home, even if you fall outside of our regular geographical area. Direct appointments are not offered for other types of work. Instead, we offer a free initial discussion and a no-obligation quote where legal work is appropriate.

How much does a direct appointment cost?

For Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Deputyship, we offer a direct appointment of up to an hour, free of charge.

What happens during a direct appointment?

Our lawyer will telephone you at an agreed time on an agreed day. If you’re seeking advice as a couple (for example, on making a Will), you’ll need a phone that lets you put our lawyer on speaker. Importantly, this allows our lawyer to advise you together. They will start by introducing themselves and the firm, before providing you with the opportunity to discuss your aims and concerns. They will then provide you with clear, jargon-free advice and set out the legal options available to you. If legal work is appropriate, they will provide a quote without obligation. Typically, all work can be carried out remotely.

Who will I be speaking to?

Our direct appointments are conducted by our one of our experienced and knowledgeable legal team.

Lee Southern

“Our clients find that Direct Appointments are an extremely convenient way to access quality legal advice, without having to leave their homes. We speak to clients at a time convenient to them, using the phone or video – whichever they feel most comfortable with. In today’s fast-paced society, direct appointments allow us to serve more clients in a way that best suits their needs and circumstances.”
