Funerals can seem like a morbid subject but at April King Legal, we consider them as part and parcel of ensuring everything is taken care of. Our clients often say to us that they just want everything to be sorted – and we know that having a funeral plan in place can really help to lift the burden for those left behind at a very difficult and stressful time.
According to research by SunLife, just 1%^ of people know exactly what the deceased would have wanted for their funeral. Consequently, Funeral Directors often find themselves in the difficult position where there is open disagreement between family members as to what their mum, dad, brother or sister would have wanted for their funeral – and then, who is going to pay for it!
Our partner Co-op Funeralcare’s funeral plans are fully guaranteed, they promise to cover the costs of your chosen burial or cremation, even if prices rise in the future†, giving you and your family complete peace of mind. You can protect your loved ones from unexpected bills and the worry of not knowing what your final wishes are.
Co-op Funeralcare funeral plans also come with a unique Co-op Commitment* meaning they will still cover the cost of your funeral plan, even if you die before you’ve paid in full.
A further benefit of taking out a funeral plan is the ability to tailor every aspect of the arrangements through the Funeral Requests Service at no extra cost. This allows you to specify details such as whether you’d like a religious or non-religious ceremony, the dress code, music, preferred flowers, a final message for your loved ones and, whether you’d like to be buried or cremated. By making these plans in advance you can ensure that your funeral is a celebration of your life. Aside from making the administration of your estate far simpler, it can really help those grieving to know they are respecting the wishes of the person who has died. Your Funeral Requests are held by Co-op Funeralcare and referenced to during your funeral arrangements.
It is important to note that not everything is included in a funeral plan. For example, if you decide that you would like to be buried, the cost of the plot will not be included as there is too much regional variation in prices. In addition, the cost of a headstone is not included, again because of the substantial variations in pricing. We can provide a full list of what is included or excluded from each available plan so you always know what is covered.
April King Legal has partnered with Co-op Funeralcare and our team can assist you with a setting up a Funeral Plan at one of our locations or from the comfort of your own home**. We offer an initial one hour appointment to arrange your funeral plan and in addition, discuss your Will and Lasting Power of Attorney if you would like to. It does not cost anything extra to arrange your funeral plan through us rather than directly with our Partner, and you have the added benefit of being able to discuss both the plan and your legal affairs with your Advisor.
